What Happened
Boomer's Sportsbook is set to open two new Fremont Street sportsbooks by September 1 after the Nevada Gaming Control Board approved the independent operator to take over the books at Four Queens Hotel and Casino and Binion's Gambling Hall & Hotel. The takeovers still need a final sign-off from the Nevada Gaming Commission later this month, but the NGCB approval is the last major hurdle before the two downtown locations go live for the start of NFL season.
The approvals bring Boomer's to 17 and 18 licensed Nevada locations respectively — nearly a doubling of the operator's footprint from the 12 months since Asher launched the brand out of The Commercial in Elko in August 2025. Asher has said publicly he is targeting at least 20 locations in the coming months and is not slowing down.
A Personal Return to Fremont for Asher
The Four Queens location holds personal significance for Asher, who has said it is a spot he visited while first learning the sports betting business years before founding Brandywine Bookmaking in 2007. The Four Queens sportsbook will be relocated and expanded as part of the Boomer's takeover — roughly 125 to 150 square feet larger than the current setup, with upgraded viewing and seating designed to draw more sit-and-stay betting traffic during football season.
Binion's sportsbook, by contrast, will stay in its existing location. That is arguably the more historically loaded of the two: Binion's Gambling Hall has deep ties to the early modern era of Las Vegas sports betting through its long history and Fremont Street prominence.
William Hill Displaced From Both Downtown Books
The takeovers displace incumbent sportsbook operator William Hill from both properties. William Hill currently operates the sportsbooks at both Binion's and Four Queens — properties owned by Terry Caudill. That makes this transition notable for a second reason: it is Asher, the former William Hill US CEO, replacing his old company at two of its remaining Nevada retail beachheads.
Deposit Kiosks Also Pending at Nearby Caudill Locations
The Fremont Street sportsbook takeovers are the headline, but Boomer's is also pursuing approval to install deposit kiosks at several other Caudill-owned restricted-license locations nearby. The list includes:
- Chicago Brewing Company
- McGill's
- SkinnyFATS
Circa's Room Count Keeps Climbing
In the same regulatory report that confirmed the Boomer's expansion, Circa Resort & Casino disclosed an update on its own downtown buildout: the property expects to complete a project this month adding 49 hotel rooms across the top two floors of its tower. That continues a phased strategy that dates back to Circa's December 2020 opening, when developer Derek Stevens intentionally left several floors unfinished so the property could gauge future room demand before committing to a design.
Circa added 106 rooms across four floors in October 2024, pushing total keys past 600. With two more floors coming online this month, the resort inches closer to the ~777-room capacity its tower was originally engineered to support. Circa Sports — the world's largest sportsbook — anchors the property downstairs, and continued hotel expansion translates into more sportsbook foot traffic during peak weekends.
What It Means for Downtown Bettors
The changes add up to a materially more competitive Fremont Street market heading into football season. Boomer's is bringing its reduced-juice -105 NFL price into two of downtown's most-visited casinos, William Hill is losing retail footprint in Nevada, and Circa continues to modernize the block. Anyone tracking the best sportsbooks in Nevada will want to watch how Boomer's Fremont Street books perform once the NFL season kicks off.
