Player-research bettors and DFS crossover players
Prop Bets
Proposition bets ("props") are wagers on specific in-game events — a player's passing yards, total receptions, first team to score, will there be a defensive touchdown, etc. Props broaden the betting menu well beyond traditional sides and totals.
Example
Davante Adams Over 78.5 receiving yards (-115)
A $100 bet on the over wins $86.96 if Adams totals 79+ receiving yards. Props are individually priced and can be combined into same-game parlays.
Pros
- Hundreds of markets per game
- Player-research advantage rewards homework
- Same-game parlay anchors
Cons
- Smaller limits than sides/totals
- Vig is often higher on niche props
- Soft markets get adjusted quickly
